The Children’s Folklore Section annually offers the W. W. Newell Prize, which includes a $200 award, for the best essay by students or emerging scholars on a topic in children’s folklore.
Authors must submit their own papers, and published papers are not eligible. We invite instructors to encourage undergraduate and graduate students with eligible papers to enter the competition, and welcome submissions by recent graduates or early career scholars. Papers must be typed and double-spaced; on the first page, include the author’s name, academic address, home address, e-mail address, and telephone number(s). The deadline for each year’s competition is June 1.
Award-winning papers will be offered the opportunity to be published in the Children’s Folklore Review.
Please electronically submit papers to Jared Rife, JaredRife@centralpenn.edu, and David J. Puglia, email@example.com. Thank you!
